Somerset Songwriter Reg Meuross returns for the fourth consecutive year to Sidmouth Parish Church on Thursday 4 August to raise funds for this beautiful and important community building. Last year’s #LavAid campaign has enabled the provision of toilets for church and concert goers, who can now relax fully and enjoy church proceedings. TICKETS https://www.wegottickets.com/event/360367
This year, as well as fundraising for renovation of the stunning Queen’s Window given to the church by Queen Victoria 150 years ago, this concert also marks the vinyl launch of Reg Meuross’ latest album ‘December’ which will officially be released by Proper Records on 4th August. Vinyl is a fitting format for an album described by the Guardian as “…sounds like a forgotten, American 60s classic with echoes of Dylan, Tom Paxton & Leonard Cohen”. Reg is a true modern day troubadour – commenting on life as he sees it, with some of the most beautifully disarming songs and lyrics ever written. As FolkWords says, his songs are ‘the hinges upon which swing the doors of perceptive English folk’.
Reg is a true modern day troubadour, commenting on life as he sees it, with some of the most beautifully disarming songs and lyrics ever written, bringing wide ranging stories from the ghosts of WW1 soldiers to the ravages of dementia and some of the most beautiful love songs ever written. Reg has that rare gift of being able to touch people, through his songs and performance, on a really human level. His words and music paint pictures that remain with the listener long after the song has been sung.
Tickets from £12 on the door/£10 advance from the Church/Paragon Books or www.wegottickets.com – £5 for Sidmouth Folk Week pass holders
